I am also a mother, a wife, a chauffeur, a chef, a referee, a sister, a granddaughter, a niece, an aunt.
I am not perfect, but am a work in progress.
I wish I owned a pair of Birkenstock.

Hello my name is Desiree’, I am a Birth Doula and Licensed Massage Therapist.  I took my Doula training with Birth Arts International inn July of 2009.  My hope as a Doula is to encourage and support women anyway they need through the beautiful and intense times of pregnancy, labor, and new motherhood.  I also aim to empower women with information and resources so they may make informed decisions about their birth experience.  I want everyone to experience their own birth the way they deserve and desire.

I discovered I was a doula after the birth of my second child.  I believe in a womans ability to choose her on path.  I have certified through ALACE and am now pursuing certification through BAI.  I continue to attend trainings, seminars and conferences so I can grow as a doula and mother.  I am so glad I was called to this work and cannot imagine my life without it.  I specialize in negotiating hospital births, but love attending any birth, any where, any time.  I had a hard time picking a picture for this.  I wanted a picture without me in it, because I thought….that is what a doula looks like….a quiet presence.  Then I thought, maybe a picture of me in labor with my doulas.  then I thought maybe a picture of me with mom and dad and baby….I just couldn’t decide…so, in the end it is just a picture of me, as I was the day I decided to be a doula, when my husband said, ‘go, do it.  It is your calling’  That was the first day I was a doula.

I am a full time mom to my son, a full time wife to my husand, I work for Norton Clinical Agency as an RN in the intensive care unit at whichever hospital they need a nurse. I love working for Norton because I can make my work schedule suit my life schedule - not the other way around. I am also a trained labor/birth doula! I love everthing to do with pregnancy and babies and I love to witness and be a part of the special journey a woman makes from pregnancy into motherhood. In order to be apart of that journey and to be able to assist the mother in all of her emotional needs I have decided that the labor and delivery unit is not for me - I am hired independently. Often I am the only specialized person that is consistent throughout the pregnancy, during birth, and post-partum since my shift isn’t over until her’s is! If you or someone you know needs a Doula please visit my website for more information: www.thebirthplan.com

My name is Hanna Vogel. I have worked with children for many years, and am now finally pursuing my dream of becoming a Doula, and eventually a Midwife. My experiences delivering my own three children taught me so much, and helped me realize how incredibly unique each birth is. I am passionate about supporting women in having the birth that they dream of, weather at home or in the hospital, and regardless of the choices that they make. I am also passionate about babywearing, breastfeeding, and empowering women to make informed choices regarding their care and their birth experience. I look forward to supporting women and families during this incredible time in their lives!

Hello I’m Tamara Wrenn and I live and work supporting women and families in the NY Metropolitan area.  I am passionate about “All Things Birth”, which is also the name of my birthing business.  I’m a mommy and like that title, it’s the best one I’ve ever had.  I am completing my doula certification with Birth Arts International and loving it!  My daughter’s birth was the catalyst for pursing this passion.  I enjoy providing the support moms need, but even more than that I feel excitement and joy when they feel empowered and use their own voice.
I’m certified in these areas:
childbirth education
 breastfeeding support
infant massage instruction
Wellness Coaching
Zumba(R) Fitness
Visit me online at www.JustUsWomen.org.

Trella, a trained massage therapist, Reiki master, doula and visual artis,t has steadily focused and studied the mind-body connection for nineteen years. She focuses on CranioSacral Therapy and Reiki in her bodywork practice, and enables clients to align with their body’s self-correcting mechanisms in a subtle yet profound and effective manner. She also has a deep respect for birth and laboring mothers. She believes EVERY birth has wisdom within it- and that every child born, is authentically a miracle. Trella also believes that serving pregnant and laboring mothers is an honor- and strives to meet mothers wherever they are in their journey of motherhood. Her passions about birth lie in educating women about natural birth, their innate, instinctual abilities to birth naturally, and in natural mind-body therapies to enhance any and all birth situations. She believes birth can be a joyous, beautiful rite of passage, and that women birth many things throughout their lives (not just children), and hopes to enable women to see themselves as the gorgeous gateways to life that they are!
